Please don’t get a dog. If you cannot afford the price of a dog from a reputable breeder, then you should not get one at all. A Google search for “puppy mill dogs” will explain to you exactly why this is so.
You said it. It is a scam. You will NEVER find a quality puppy for that price, period. What’s up with the size? Want to fit it in your purse? Shame on you. Go to a shelter and see what dogs really go through for our stupid trends and whims.
They are alive, you know.
Go to Petfinder.com, or to your local animal shelter.
EDIT: Right on, Misa - she and everyone else needs to check out Prisonersofgreed.org to see what puppy mills are all about. Never, ever get a puppy from a pet store - no matter what they tell you, they ALL get their puppies from puppy mills.
Keep checking your local paper. I got lucky, when I called about getting a shepard, they told me that they had no choice but to GIVE them away for free because one of the pups had medical problems so there is a law that if one has a problem, you cannot sell them (well in my state that is the law)
I got my puppy and 6 years past, and no problems.
Also keep checking local animal shelters too. There might in fact be a maltese puppy looking for a home, all you have to pay is a donation fee. Chances are slim but it never hurts to keep looking. Good luck
sorry, but i highly doubt you will ever find a good healthy (non-scammer) puppy under $300 that is also a miniature. that is almost impossible unless the person is desperate to get rid of it, which makes no sense.
but, heres one i found:
this ones a little over your price:
and another little over your price:
PUPPYFIND.COM is also a good place to find lower costed maltese puppies.
this ones really cute for $400:=%2Ffor_sale%2F%3Fbreed_id%3D72%26country%3D%26state%3D%26page%3D4%26order_by%3Drand%26back%3D%252Fbreed%252F%253Fbreed_id%253D72%2526back%253D
Try Maltese Rescue, they may not have “babies” but they will have young dogs that may be under a year.
Those dogs on next day pets are from BYBs dont even bother with them, the first dog isnt even pure it has colouration which is not supposed to occur in Maltese.
I really don’t believe that you are ready to be a pet owner.
Do some research to make sure the breed is suitable for your website.
If you are wanting to get the pup for a present DON’T.
Thousands of those ‘gifts’ end up at shelters or on the street - regardless of price.
For that price you typically will end up with an unhealthy, mill-bred, unscreened puppy who may not even make it through the first year.
Instead, sign up with a local shelter as a volunteer to learn about proper animal care, see and read some of the ludicrous reasons pets are surrendered at shelters.
Get a stuffed animal instead - its cheaper and you won’t have surprise vet bills, food bills, etc
I would contact a reputable breeder that breeds show dogs. Sometimes they have puppies that won’t make it as show quality and will sell cheaper to a good home. Usually you have to prove yourself, such as have a regular vet or proof of spay/neuter, etc.
A miniature Maltese? No such thing. A reputable breeder selling Maltese dogs for under $300? No such thing. Sorry, but you don’t seem to be able to afford a dog. If you can’t afford the purchase price, how will you be able to afford all the vet care and food for your dog? Please do not get a dog. Not yet, anyway. Wait until you are 100% positive you can afford a dog. Sorry.
The price they are is what they sell for so i doubt you’ll ever find one for under $1,000. Think about it. If you had a purebred Maltese and were selling it wouldn’t you ask full price of what they are worth rather than giving someone a deal? I don’t think so.
Look in the paper for some ads for them.
hi I am a proud Maltese owner and I would like to give u some info. 1st of all a full breed Maltese won’t be under $300 I got mine for $500 and that was a steal!!(it was b/c she has a slight overbite and can’t be a show dog, not that i wanted one! so that was discounted!!) I looked for a year and a half for my baby!
Also no bigger than 3 pounds isnt normal, they are unhealthy runts. there is no such thing as tea cups by the way. Please trust me i did research after research so i was ready for anything so i know more than most ppl would think…honest. so mine is 4 pounds and she feels like a feather!! they feel lighter than they weigh. so a 4,5,6 pound one would be great. they are naturally small light dogs so please dont get a runt that is prone to illness. just get a regular maltese and u will surely b happy with the weight and size!
how do u feel about a mix? Maltese/bichon are nice u cant even tell its a mix! thats ur best bet to paying a smaller amount. try petfinder or go to google and type Maltese Puppies for sale in ____(ur area)
they are fragile so shipping isn’t best. I got my sweet heart from an Ohio breeder are u near there?
ok i have lots of info on the breed so if you need some help or arent sure if something is fishy about a breeder feel free to email me at and please feel free to ask any ?’s at all I’m more than happy to make another persons Maltese dreams come true!!
Best wishes and I hope you find one. have faith and just believe it will happen when its supposed to.
Maltese are not cheap look in your local paper and also the papers of towns close to your home town..
A reputable breeder.
I would do my homework and interview multiple breeders before choosing one.
